Janus A

Janus A is populated by a cabal of quite wealthy merchants, who have recently come under attack from a vicious pirate syndicate.

Lacking a serious navy, they requested aid from UNCA, who have stated they do not have the ships spare to assist, but can help the new industrialists (players) to fit their ships for combat.

The new industrialists, being warp and in theory jump capable pilots, are likely to become a force to be reckoned with in the coming years - armed with UNCA weapons, defensive systems and potentially even bigger ship hulls.

Space Pirates

Space pirates are the badies of the space game.

They dont dare enter the regulated 8 main systems of the empire.

UNCA Missions

UNCA issue missions that you can elect to accept or not, available at Janus A UNCA Destroyer contracts board

You may repeat these missions as often as required

The more missions you do, the higher rank you achieve and harder missions become available

Harder missions will have bigger or multiple pirate ships. there is a contant up date on the enemy and your ship health.

When shooting a pirate, and when they shoot you, the shield is hit and damaged first, then the armor, then the hull, at 0% hull they or you are dead

To prevent yourself from dying, your computer will detect that you are about to be killed and automatically activate your warp drive, taking you the the Ceres system.

When you enter Janus A space, there is a UNCA destroyer at the gate. Click on it to get the contracts menu. The missions will have the reward posted with it and obviously, harder missions are are posted with a higher reward. Blueprints for the heavier Guardian destroyer are available here as well

The mission at the bottom of the list in a purple/pink colour is the required mission to get up a level in rank, you may do just these to get up one rank each battle..... if you are good enough

You will be able to research weaponry on your space station to defend yourself. The standard weapon is the class 1 axial beam mounted strait out the front of your ship, higher class axial beams provide more damage.

Other weapons available are the Turret beam, as the name suggests, it turns and self targets the enemy, you may have multiple turrets on your ship. Also available is the Broadside beam, similar to the turret but turns much slower and has a more powerful beam.

Higher than class 5 weapons required a paid Premium Battle fee of $1/month to use. It is possible to get a fair way into the levels without premium.

Your ships computer will not allow any firing upon friendly space craft.

Some of the missions include but are not limited to:-

- Hunt down and destroy a pirate spy drone, these are sent out by the pirates to find easy targets and need to be destroyed.

- Rescue a cargo ship being attacked by a pirate, the cargo ship will be very grateful and give you a reward

- Stealth approach a pirate ship and place a tracking device on it without being detected. you will need the class 1 stealthy hornet, Start from a distance and with capacitor fully charged.. turn off your reactor by double mouse clicking your hull and selecting turn off reactor - this makes you harder to be detected by the pirate. With gravity anchor off, slowly approach the pirate to get withing 500m to place the device. When the device is placed, hit gravity anchor to pull up in space and let the pirate continue without being detected. When the pirate is out of range, double mouse click your hull and select turn reactor on. The mission fails if the pirate detects you.

- Destroy the pirate base - The tracking device allows a space base location to be known. go there and blow it to pieces

- Escort a valuable shipment to its destination - Meet various friendly craft traveling through space and follow them to their destination. When a pirate ship tries to intercept, destroy it

UNCA Rank

As you defeat pirates, you will gain higher rank in UNCA.

Some missions will be prefixed with the rank of that mission and will not show if you are not that rank or higher, these missions will have the reward value posted.

Some missions will not be prefixed and have no reward value posted, though there is a reward for completion, these are the special missions that will increase your rank.

ranks and expected mission reward value are

  • Midshipman - reward value ≈ 4,500 credits
  • Storylineensign.jpg
Ensign - reward value ≈ 13,500 credits
  • 2nd Lieutenant - reward value ≈ 40,500 credits
  • Lieutenant Commander - reward value ≈ 360,000 credits
  • Commander - reward value ≈ 1,000,000 credits
  • Captain - reward value ≈ 3,200,000 credits
  • Squad captain - reward value ≈ 9,800,000 credits
  • Commodore - reward value ≈ 29,000,000 credits
