Gas Giant Mining

Gases from the gas giants (gas planets) can be collected by flying through them at speed.

Gas mining is currently one of the best ways for the smaller starter ships to get some credits.

The colour of the atmosphere and the speed traveling at will determine what gas is collected.

The gasses are collected by just skimming the surface and you will need to have gravity anchor off to get enough speed.

Several different gases will be collected for use on research in your own space station and future warp drive technology or sold on the Contracts board.

Currently only hydrogen and Oxygen are available to be harvested.

• Hydrogen is obtained by skimming the pure white gas. colour example:-

• Oxygen is obtained by skimming the green gas of the right shade. colour example:-

Best results are obtained by starting at a distance, ie:- the star base, setting your view to 1st person, lining up the relavant part of the gas planet, turning gravity anchor off and going flat out into the colour at as fast a speed as possible.

Your ship comes with a class 1 gas mining scoop, larger ones can be built at your space station shipyard or purchased from other players and fitted to your ship to provide higher yield when skimming.
