Ascent:TSG has many types of markets to exchange goods between players and NPC's.

Local Market

The local market is a station-based NPC market to buy and sell minerals. Each station in the inner-8 systems sells one type of product which corresponds to the resources produced by the settlement of that system. Each NPC station will purchase other inner-8 resources for at least a minimum price, in most cases, for a profit to the seller. Here is a list of the resources sold corresponding to the station name and system:

Prices change every 15 minutes except at the bottom of the hour (the 00:30 mark). When you sell goods, you receive a percentage of bonus credits from your current Trading Skill level. As you sell more goods, your Trading Skill increases, and you receive a higher percentage of bonus credits. When you reach a new level, a message will appear showing your improved Trading Skill level along with the amount of bonus credits you received for the current trade.

Each time you sell metal goods to an NPC space station, their Industry level increases, and they produce more goods per day. Each time you sell food goods to an NPC space station, their Starvation level decreases which also affects production.

Galactic Market

The Galactic Market allows players to buy and sell resources (Material), ship modules (Ship Parts), and Ships with other players. The Galactic Market at a Private Space Station (PSS) (also known as the Inner Space Station (ISS)) only allows players to buy and sell ship modules (Ship Parts) and Ships with other players.

Galactic market - item types

To find items, the player needs to know the item they are looking for and enter the search parameters in the Items box. For further precision, the player can enter the minimum quantity or the minimum price after the greater-than sign (>) in the specific boxes. Click on the Search button to activate your search parameters.

Selecting from the list will show you the details of an offer. You can only buy the entire offer or not at all.

When searching for a Ship Module, search with a class level and the item name. In the example below, the search is for class 3 mining beam (the input box is very small):

Galactic market. Ship module search for Class 3 mining beam.

When searching for a Ship, you will need to know the ship name (see Space Ships).

Galactic market. Ship search for Mammoth.

If a player purchases an item from a seller's PSS, a new destination appears in Apollo's Autopilot (see image below).

Place a Sell Order

At any location that has a Galactic Market, there is also a Place Sell Order menu button. This allows players to sell items from the station Item Hangar (resources), modules stored at the station (ship modules), or from the Hangar (ships).

The menu system is very similar to the Galactic Market interface with an Item Type menu button.

Galactic Market Notes

If you purchase an item from a PSS in Apollo, the Autopilot might not update to show the location of your purchase until you leave the system or relog.

Stock Market

After finding the stock market you want to buy or sell to, click on the name. The map will then center on the system that the stock market is located in. You will need a ship with a hyperdrive and enough fuel to reach the system. If you have the requirements, just click the Jump button on the highlighted planet.

After Jumping to the system with a Stock Market, you will need to click the Auto pilot button, and warp to the colony that has the Stock Market.

Once you are in range, there will be a Green Skybeam from the Stock Market out into space.Follow this beam down to the Stock Market. Once in range, a button will appear to “open stockmarket”. Click the button, and a list of buy and sell options will come up.

You can buy or sell any amount, up to the amount listed. For example if a Stock Market is buying 1027 Tin, you can sell it any amount from 1-1027.

When you buy or sell to a Stock Market, the owner gets a message in the mail, telling then what was bought or sold, who it was from or to, and the amounts.
